Allergy Relief Medicine

Various kinds of treatments and medicines are available for allergy relief. Sometimes antihistamines and decongestants are insufficient, and additional treatment may be required.

Allergy Injections

Allergy injections are a form of allergy relief medicine known as immunotherapy, that changes the way your immune system responds to allergens. Essentially it is a protective measure, intended to control allergic reactions to particular substances, such as grass pollens, wasp and bee stings, and dust mites.

Immunotherapy is a kind of allergy relief medicine, in which small amounts of the substances, a patient is allergic to, are used for injections. The dosage is gradually increased to enable the immune system to tolerate the allergens, without triggering the symptoms of an allergic reaction.

Although immunotherapy can be very effective, as an allergy relief medicine, it takes quite some time, so you should not expect immediate results, and after a while your patience will be rewarded.

It is obvious that immunotherapy is a specialised treatment, which is administered by qualified medical practitioners. This form of allergy relief medicine is not suitable for everybody, so consult your doctor and allow him to decide whether it is appropriate for you.

Oral Medicines

Allergy relief medicines include oral antihistamines and decongestants, some of which are available over the counter. The body produces histamine, when an over supply of antibodies are present, from an allergic reaction. The histamine causes inflammation leading to allergic conditions such as, runny noses, itching, watery eyes, and many others. Oral antihistamines are formulated to counter these effects.

Decongestant, allergy relief medicines are formulated to relieve congestion. As such they can assist with some breathing difficulties, and with the inflamed sinus condition known as sinusitis.

As with many different medicines, antihistamines and decongestants may bring side effects. These may include, drowsiness, dizziness, and headaches, and if these occur you should not drive or operate machinery.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used as an allergy relief medicine, and has proved to be effective against hay fever, which is a common symptom of allergy. It may be useful in treating other allergy symptoms, as encouraging studies have been undertaken in China, Russia, and the West where mixed results were the outcome.

As far as energy relief medicine is concerned it would seem that there are good choices. In some instances immunotherapy has assisted in bringing about a complete cure. However, it is not suitable for everyone, and is highly specialized. So consult your doctor, and let him decide, or help you to decide, which of all the treatments is best suited to your individual requirements.
